SPEAK supporters were out in force for a long weekend of demos against the animal experiments carried out by Oxford University. There was a large presence outside the new large torture lab on South Parks Road on Thursday 29 July, whilst Friday and Saturday saw even more activists holding highly visual demos outside graduation ceremonies.

Oxford University has once again shown that it has no academic integrity after inviting Taib Mahmud, the controversial Chief Minister of the Malaysian state of Sarawk, to present an opening address at the Oxford Global Islamic Branding and Marketing Forum, held at the Said Business School.

River Demo Report - Saturday 24th July 2010

On Saturday 24th July, people enjoying their leisure activities along the River Thames in Oxford were treated to the sight of a SPEAK banner clad motor boat making its way along the river. The twelve SPEAK members on board loudly informed others on the river of the useless and horrific experiments carried out on live animals in the infamous Oxford University Laboratories (how sound travels over water!). From small single person crafts to the large tourist laden vessels, the support we received was phenomenal.

As prospective students descended on Oxford to look around the university, SPEAK supporters were out in force for both days to inform those attending the open days what Oxford University won’t be telling or showing them: the imprisonment, mutilation and killing of over 150, 000 animals in its laboratories every year.

Encaenia Ceremony Demo Report - Wednesday 23rd June 2010

On Wednesday 23rd June 2010, Oxford University held its annual Encaenia ceremony, the most important event in it's calendar, when it awards honorary degrees to those it considers to be worthy, and those who help fill its coffers. As ever, SPEAK Campaign supporters were on hand to inform recipients, guests and tourists of the horrific truth hidden behind the pomp and ceremony - of the 16,000 plus innocent, non-consenting beings imprisoned and exploited in the university's labs, less than five minutes walk from the Sheldonian Theatre where the day’s events were taking place.

SPEAK supporters were out on the streets of Oxford on Saturday to shame Oxford University over the horrific experiments they carry out on animals. Information was distributed to hundreds of people, while the banners and placards describing the university’s crimes could be read by the hundreds more that passed by.

World Day for Animals in Laboratories National Demo Report: Saturday 24th April 2010

On Saturday 24th April 2010, animal rights activists from all over the UK and further afield descended upon London for a march and rally to mark World Day for Animals in Laboratories, calling for an end to the incarceration and brutalization of innocent, non consenting beings in labs throughout the world.
