It has been reported in the local press that Oxford University and
Thames Valley Police are both contributing towards the £120,000 a
year cost of community support officers dedicated to patrolling
university premises. This is an alarming development because if
Oxford University is indeed paying their wages, then Thames Valley
Police really are nothing more than a private police force working
for, and in the pockets of the university - hardly impartial
upholders of the law.
However it will take more than a disreputable institution like Oxford
University, who seem to think that
torturing animals to death is a decent pass time, to put SPEAK
supporters off from voicing their disgust
at these atrocities. So once again, those opposed to animal abuse
gathered at the edge of the exclusion
zone, to let both pedestrians and those in cars know exactly what
dirty, cruel secrets this university is
hiding behind the doors of its laboratories. Never again will Oxford
University have the luxury of
people’s ignorance to let them get away with brutalizing animals.
