No Celebration for the Animals
CHRISTMAS EVE AND CHRISTMAS DAY DEMO REPORTS
Christmas is no holiday or celebration for those animals held inside Oxford University’s laboratories, it is just another day of imprisonment and sufferingHowever, their plight is not forgotten - SPEAK supporters were present outside the lab on both Christmas eve and Christmas day to show Oxford University that there are no days that we consider too important not to fight for the innocent victims that this institution insists on tormenting to death.
A number of people maintained a vociferous and highly visual presence directly opposite the animal torture lab on Christmas Eve. Even the darkness of the winter night couldn’t stop this protest against cruel and medieval science as candles were lit to make it very clear to all those who drove past exactly why people were demonstrating.
Christmas day saw people travelling from far and wide, as well as locally, to show their disgust at Oxford University’s treatment of live animals, some of whom can suffer for years at the hands of the researchers it employs and supports.
There will come a time when the use of animals in research will be reviled and rejected by all. Until then, SPEAK will continue to fight for the rights of animals not to be cut open, poisoned, infected with diseases or mutilated.
