A Sickness at the Very Heart of Oxford UniversityThe email below was sent to SPEAK. Emails threatening violence against us and detailing the pleasure some people get from abusing animals, though common, are not a surprise to us. Let's face it, those that can abuse and torture animals on a daily basis or see them as assets must be lacking both the compassion and scruples most normal people have. Nothing exemplifies the true nature of diehard proponents of vivisection quite as succinctly as the email we received recently. The person who wrote it is obviously a keen supporter of vivisection both in general and at Oxford University. Let no one be in any doubt: the sentiment expressed by the person who wrote this is common place amongst those that both support and kill animals in a fraudulent scientific practice. After all, if Oxford University can kill 2000 people in the Vioxx trials they are hardly going to lose any sleep over killing thousands of animals. The animals typically pay the price of progress, but what about the 2000 human victims - always more difficult to answer isn't it? While many people who purport to be in favour of the barbaric practice of animal 'research' are simply buying into the lies they are being spoon fed rather than looking at the facts and thinking for themselves, there are many others who fall into an altogether different category. The email below might be a sick joke, or it might not be. Regardless, it clearly illustrates the type of individuals that support vivisection. This email was sent from IP address 129.67.38.221, which is: dhcp38-221.sthughs.ox.ac.uk, which means it came from within Oxford University itself and in particular from St Hugh's College and was sent at 2.55am on 24th February. The email has not been altered in any way, including leaving in the spelling mistakes: Hello my friends, I will kill a cat for each new post on your website!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA (Where your website is www.speakcampaigns.org.uk ) To prove that I am not bluffing, I hit a stray cat on the head with a baseball bat, but it wasn't quite dead, so I put it in an old cage I use for torturing hamsters and threw it around a bit.... Then I took the attatched picture on my mobile phone. * Click to see picture * I was thinking of posting the cats I've killed to you, but what address shall I post them to? Please let me know. See you on saturday! |
