Lies, damn lies and monkey businessThe campaign against Oxford University and its ongoing efforts to expand its animal abuse labs follows the victory achieved by the animal rights movement in preventing Cambridge University from building Europe's largest primate lab. SPEAK has learnt that the planned new facility at Oxford is far from being an 'animal house' as the apologists of vivisection at Oxford would like us to believe. Information recieved from a well placed source within the University paints a very different picture. SPEAK has been told that the animals to be used at the new centre will be primates, rodents and fish, this would point to the fact that, considering rodents and fish require little room for housing, the new facility will be predominantly used for primates. Whatever animals are involved, the evidence is clear, this place is to be a centre of animal suffering and death and not some kind of 'animal hotel' as Oxford University are trying to tell the world. The animal rights movement came together to resist the blind prejudice of Cambridge University and elements within this Government and Oxford University must be left in doubt that they will not be allowed to quietly usher in the warped fantasies of Lord Sainsbury and Tony Blair of turning this country into the vivisection capital of Europe. Animal experimentation is under scrutiny like never before, the animal rights movement has made this situation possible by its determination never to turn its back on the animal and human victims of vivisection. Oxford University would like to rely on its reputation as a centre of academic excellence to hide the dark secrects of its animal torture labs. The game is up, Oxford, like Cambridge, cannot hide or lie about what they are intending to do. Secrecy is NOT guaranteed, we know what is planned and we will NEVER turn our backs on the animals or the fight to end fraudulent science. You may be able to lie to the press but we know your every move and we're watching! Please come to Oxford on Saturday 13 March and make a difference. Meet 12noon at University Park, Parks Rd (entrance adjacent to Keble Rd) |
