We argue with Science & Ethics, they argue with Apostrophes

The following e-mail was sent in by an Oxford University 'academic' specialising in the field of neuroscience. We display his e-mail here in full in order to highlight the mentality of those that abuse sentient creatures.

His e-mail illustrates the arrogance characteristic of those in this profession who witness and inflict on a daily basis the most appalling acts of cruelty upon innocent sentient beings in order to satisfy some spurious academic argument.

At SPEAK we have been keen to put forward a number of different arguments against the use of animals for research and have continually approached the University and student representative bodies in order to be able to present both a scientific and moral argument against vivisection. We have been faced with a wall of silence. Until the email from Jason Lott, that is, who tackled our arguments with the full force of his academic expertise!!

Jason Lott's e-mail clearly demonstrates that to those engaged in the abuse of animals, a missed apostrophe is more important than an animal's life; laughable when one considers that so-called academics such as Lott - hobnobbing with (allegedly) the finest minds in the world - are only able to argue from such a shallow perspective.

We have decided to publish Jason's photo so that - should you see him in or around Oxford - you can at least enlighten him to the fact that he is participating in a fraudulent scientific practice and suggest that perhaps a career in English Literature might be more to his liking. Please note we are reproducing his e-mail in full; the misspelling of "concerning" in the first sentence was his error. The saying "People in glass houses..." springs to mind!

Hello,
I recently received a flyer concering "Time to Blow the Whistle on
Monkey Experiments" on my car.
I would like to point out that this flyer contains two grammatical
errors concerning the use of possessives and apostrophes. These
errors are actually printed on the flyer that you distribute to represent
your organization.
Such basic errors do not surprise me in the least because they
reflect the intellectual tenability of your position.
Please learn how to spell and write properly before engaging in more
serious tasks regarding animal research.
You will go far if you learn how to write one day.
sincerely,
A Non-Stop Animal Researcher
P.S. I know some good beginner grammar books if you need some help.
