Relics in the Modern Age

More and more scientists are coming to the conclusion that using animals to replicate human disease is just plain bad science. Thankfully not all scientist are practicing archaic methods, which just don't work. SPEAK supports the need for a reseach laboratory on South Parks Rd; what we don't support is the building of a new animal research laboratory. As we detailed in a previous article, more progressive and enlightened scientists at Cambridge University are finding alternatives to animal based research, alternatives that are more applicable to the human condition. Now scientists at Newcastle-upon Tyne are coming up with new brain imaging techniques which will be a far more effective way of understanding the human brain.

Oxford University are quickly being left behind in the field of scientific technology. Many of their academics are stuck in the past. For far too long they have remained behind closed doors, much of their lives having very little relevance to the real world and the 21st Century. One can only hope that the SPEAK campaign can help to remove the blinkers from this most arcane of institutions and bring them into the modern and real world, where they might actually do some good.
