Growing in Strength

On Thursday 27th October, 18 months into the campaign, 35 SPEAK supporters from all over the country attended the weekly site demo opposite Oxford University's partially built animal torture lab, which stands silent, after 16 months of no building work.

As always, support from passing motorists and pedestrians was phenomenal and the ever increasing police presence only serves to draw more attention and support to the campaign. Injunction servers also made a very brief appearance before scurrying back to their hiding place inside the University. Despite the ever increasing attempts to silence us with injunctions and intimidation, these weekly demonstrations have proved our tenacity and willingness to stand up and SPEAK OUT on behalf of the voiceless victims of an archaic scientific practice!

Oxford University may have believed that it's standing as world leader in academia and the prestige and power that go with it - would have been enough to stamp out any opposition to its attempts to build another monument to animal suffering and self interest. After 18 months of fighting this powerful institution, SPEAK has grown in strength and our determination to stop this project is getting stronger.

SPEAK would like to thank everyone for their continued support. Our resolve and strength grows day by day and we will never be dictated to by those whose only motivation is a blind adherence to their own careers and the profit driven hypocrisy of the pharmaceutical industry.
