What does not destroy me makes me strongerTomorrow, 10th April, in the High Court SPEAK will once again be taking on the might of Oxford University as they attempt to impose even greater restrictions on our democratic rights to protest. What the university objects to is not the way we conduct our demonstrations. Rather, they are incensed that anyone, especially "illiterate" (as we have been described by Prof T A) animal rights campaigners would actually stand up to challenge them. What they object to is our message, the message of compassion, something so obviously lacking by a number of people at the university. What they object to is that we have had the audacity to highlight exactly what they are responsible for and dispell the image they have tried to propogate over the years - the dreamy spires and the postcard images that are familiar to everyone the world over.
Well, Oxford, SPEAK has a message for you - you can call us what you want, but we are never going to go away. No matter what repressive laws are brought in by Oxford University's friends in the Labour Government; no matter how they try and label us using their friends in the media to do their dirty work, we will stand strong. You can drag us throught the courts, you can have your workers attack 70 year old protestors, you can employ henchmen, to try and intimidate and harass us but it just illustrates one simple point - you just dont understand the mindset and the compassion of the animal rights movement. You can never defeat and ideal, never defeat the compassionate message by trying to supress that message. Whatever you do to muzzle us and restrict our freedoms, you will never achieve your goal. That's a promise. See you in Court. |
