A Big Thank You

SPEAK would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the pro animal abusers inside Oxford University who have considerately placed a webcam inside one of the  university’s buildings. The webcam provides an excellent vantage point to anyone who is interested in the comings and goings of protected persons as well as vehicles just outside the animal torture centre in Mansfield Rd. Instead of standing in the rain and standing out like a sore thumb, interested parties can now observe university life from the discreet distance of their own homes, comfortably sitting at their computer, whilst sipping a warm mug of hot chocolate.

On a more serious note, however, and getting away from the juvenile antics and publicity stunts associated with the pro-vivisectionists’ increasingly desperate and puerile campaign, the webcam illustrates the ludicrous nature and reality behind Oxford University’s attempts to get yet another injunction against SPEAK.

The university have argued that they need a further and more draconian injunction in order to protect the university and the new animal torture centre project. Part of what they are seeking is to forbid the use of any photographic and video equipment and the banning of any possible surveillance of protected persons’ vehicles. However, the webcam exposes the lies being told by the university, who have attempted to mislead and deceive not just the British legal system but the British public.

Of course it could be argued by the university that they were unaware of the existence of the webcam, however even for a university that has indulged in deceit on an almost daily basis this would be difficult, considering the existence of the webcam was brought to the attention of the university's legal team in the High Court on both Thursday and Friday of last week. One would have imagined that if the security of protected persons was of paramount importance to the university, the webcam wouldn’t still be rolling in Mansfied Rd. 5 days after being notified. Such inaction speaks volumes as to the true motive of the university in attempting to gain a further injunction and one would have to believe that such gross incompetence on the part of the university's security team really doesn't bode well for the build itself?

As they say: with friends like these, who needs enemies!

Since the posting of this article, the webcam has been removed and the original url is being redirected. However, as we are always one step ahead of the university, here is an image we captured on 23rd May at 17:35 hours. Click on the image to enlarge.
