Montpellier withdraw from Oxford Animal Lab

The news that Montpellier has ceased its involvement as the builders of the new animal torture lab for Oxford University represents a pivotal moment in the campaign to stop the expansion of animal abuse at Oxford. The concrete and steel structure on South Parks Rd is far from complete and the continuous protests from the animal rights movement has meant that Oxford University have not been allowed to hide behind the deceit they peddled to the media and the public about the real nature of the new building.

Montpellier and all those involved in the building of this animal abuse centre have to come to realise that a quick profit at the expense of the destruction of thousands of sentient beings is something that comes with a price. Oxford University are content to peddle a continuous diatribe against those who challenge them and their reliance on their academic credentials only serves to intensify their arrogance and willingness to lie when the going gets tough. The question of animal suffering and the scientific validity of experimenting on animals are pushed to one side in the university's rush to open the doors on lucrative funding from those profiteering from animal experimentation.

The welcome news from Montpellier marks a real milestone in the fight against the Oxford animal lab but we have to remain focused, RMC and others are continuing to profit from their involvement and Oxford University have 'vowed' to continue with their plans. Countless thousands of animals yet to be born will fill the concrete structure on South Parks Rd awaiting their fate at the hands of Oxford University vivisectors. The same so-called scientists who routinely brutalise animals like the 'Oxford Two' will inflict untold suffering in the name of scientific research on the defenceless creatures who would fill the half-built prison on South Parks Rd.
